First off, I was apparently in an accident today, it wasn’t horrible, but it was enough to make me really nervous and jittery (almost like vandermeer). I was finishing out the “downtown run” from Allendale to DeVos, to CHS, to EC back to Allendale. Sitting in traffic in heading south on Campus Drive in allendale admiring the crack in the windshield getting bigger, I was suddenly thrust forward into the black probably S10 in front of me. Maybe if there was a rearview mirror in the van, well mounted anyhow, I would’ve seen the truck not stopping. In any case the overhead that was riding shotgun slammed into the dash then hit the floor, the slide projector in the back slid forward and tumbled into the back of my seat ….. they may still be functional. In any case, I got out of the van to make sure the other people were alright, not really realizing that I probably got the worst of it. I gave the guy behind me the “what the hell is wrong with you” look, he just stared at me and got out of “his” truck. The guy in front of me just asked if i as moving or stopped and made sure that I was alright. He then pointed out the puddle of green life quickly pouring out from the front of the van as I was quickly on the phone to Public safety to get an officer over to check out the situation. I then called the Wezeman to let him know that his van was smashed up, then called Bamm to let him know i can take a van out of comission as well, granted my timing wasn’t quite as good as his. I had called DC to have his guys pick up the equipment from the van, they didn’t rip on me too bad.
The people’s favorite officer Wayne Kooistra came to the scene, and informed me that it is illegal to play tag with vehicles. I told him that I wasnt participating voluntarily in this game, we shared a laugh, well I wasn’t so much laughing but nervously shaking. We had pulled into the middle entrance to parking lot C and waited while Wayne got the story down then took all the important information and filled out his paperwork. The guy in front of me got his paperwork back first as he went and talked to Wayne and probably headed off to class. That left me and the big red F250, which I cam to find out was a rented vehicle, whoopsie. hopefully he had insurance on that thing. Wayne came back up because apparently there was the wrong registration in the van, it was still from the old 88 that the consultants used to drive. He informed me that he got a “new” computer and needed some help getting it connected to the cable modem he had. We’ll have to talk about that later. He gave me my information back and told me to pull it into a spot and call the motor pool about it. I went and handed the keys back over to JW and went through the story with him. I then got Jason’s camera to take some pictures of the dead van. I also took a random picture of Lindsey because she is hot.
Went to lunch with Zammie and relaxed a bit, that was much needed. We talked about random things and some different AV solutions and what not for home theaters. After returning to campus and seeing the Weeze, I got some paperwork to fill out, which i need to wait and get some information from the Police Report. I was going to try to fill out the rest, but thats alright. I will do that tomorrow. Since JFK and JW said I should go home, at about 3 I decided to come home. I had a Magners and drifted off to sleep, only ot wake up 5 hours later to chat online and realize that I have nothing good to eat in the apt. I will eat tomorrow … besides I’m fat anyhow.
Yesterday was a unbelievably long Marathon meeting for the Vigil selection. When all was said and done there were 7 candidates for this year. I think the team made good choices and after some careful evaluation they were able to successfully achieve their purpose, but also realized the work that need to be done after this meeting. Meetings at TK’s house seem to go way too long, maybe we should change the meeitng place. the 8+ hours was the longest I have ever met on this committee, but not the longest that I have ever met at TK’s place. Way back in the fall of ‘98 probably was the planning for the Elangomat/Nimat training that we started in the lodge, that was another 8+ hour meeting. Eddie may wish to join me on the AT. I’m thrilled.
The rest of last week was pretty good as well, some time to be spent with Maria, thats always fun. I wish it was some more time spent with her, but that will change I’m sure. I just need to get things straight in my head as far as priorities go. Not getting too terrible lost on sleep this week was awesome. Tuesday it happened, Diablo 2 LOD patch 1.10 was released. It is awesome, I now have a level 51 Cold Sorc that is mucho fun to play. That was several hours of time. I am looking to hopefully relax and settle down the rest of this week. I am already looking forward to the weekend.
