You wouldn’t shoot me ……

[ ]   —   11:36 pm

Apparently I lef tout something about yesterdya in my post. I called and talked to Bill over at USF and he said they were still waiting on a few people to interview from HR in Chicago, but they hope to have a decision by the end of the week. I don’t know how persistent that I want to be with the whole matter, should I just forget about it for this week, or should I place another callback to him on Friday afternoon. Other than that, got some more sleep caught up on today, I awoke at around noon to the vandermeer’s call reminding me to that I have to take him to the airport. I was a bit miffed that he interrupted an interesting dream I was having. I was walking through Henry Hall with someone, and just looking at the different people I saw as I passed, I realized that there was this semishort haired blonde girl that looked really familiar, I passed her by and then came back a few minutes later after doing something in the labs. I stopped and talked to her, and indeed it was Amanda Raddatz. She would not give me a hug, which I guess is alright since she does not want to talkt to me anymore in real life it just transferred over to the fantasy world. As we talked a bit she started to change into Beth, which was just a really strange change of events. we continued to converse, and by the time everything was said and done I learned that Amanda still hates me, for unknown reasons and Beth is pregnant and soon to be married to a guy named Steve and moving back to Chicago. I got up and chatted online, and watched the History Channel on the story of one of them famous outlaws, what was his name. Wild Bill Hickock, then there was the story of Modern Marvels:Saloons and their development through the life of America. That was all pretty amusing.

I took Meer to the airport and dropped him, I suppose we will see him again next week. Though his departure I’m sure will affect our bar plans for the week, already we skipped B-Dubs tonight. After returning from the dropoff run, I came home and watched some TV, then went for dinner with Abby and Erin, ran into Phil, since it was a fundraiser for East Elementary, the school that Miss Rooks is student teaching at currently. Then after some good conversation as always, I ran to a computer store to see if they had fan controllers to slow down the fans and reduce noise in my computer. Unfortunately not for a decent price, though I guess an electronic controller to control 8 fans might be reasonable at $50, it was quite excessive for me considering I only need 3 pots at most. Then to come home, converse in Espanol with Vanberge, then head over there to play PS2, watch AmericanIdol, 24 and the Shield. Both of the second 2 shows were awesome. 24 had a hell of a way to come back to the air, and I will not reveal some of the cool details to those of you who have not yet seen the show, ie. Bamm. This was the first episode of the shield that I have seen, and I must admit it was the man, I would very much like to see more episodes of the show. Then tonight was chatting and surfing, mostly chatting and attempting to figure out the WordPress stuff, though I seem to lack the knowledge to get the interface to look how I would like, so this may be a longer process than, I might like. I did figure out how to bring all these old entries into the log though I will probably lose the comments. I was also happy to have recieved 2 of the rebates I’ve been waiting on for the DVD burner. not just waiting on another $50 rebate. Time for this guy to go to bed, maybe tomorrow this site may look a bit different.

A short post

[ ]   —   1:36 am

This was a realatively uneventful day at work, though I guess I was busy the whole time through. I didn’t have that much time to just chill out and browse the web. So it was nice to be able to address some issues, and get some resolved, though noone seems to be able to figure out why come people cannot connect to the GVSU site from their off campus boradband connections. Otherwise I spent some time reading about WordPress and will attempt to implement that later here. After work I was able to come home and nap, that took the whole afternoon and evening, I finally got up around 9:00 and then chatting online and had some dinner, more chatting and TV and here we are. I am really interested to see how this might work out here. sigh.

Tempered Over Burning Witches ……

[ ]   —   10:48 pm

First off, this Holy Grail Ale, mostly reminds me of something like Old style. I am definately not impressed, though I have paid more for less Old Style in Chicago. But that aside, it has been a few days now. Friday was actually a semi-interesting day at work, some people with problems. I actually had someone asking for help in person at 8:00am. SO I was able to enter his SSID for him as well as another gentleman. Took care of a few problems of callers, mostly things that Barb took, because Jamie actually called over to ask how to answer questions rather than just transferring over to me. I think it will be amusing when I am gone from the university, then JW might have to lower himself to the level to help students. God forbid that happen. Friday he gave me a faculty’s personal laptop and told me that I was supposed to fix this as a favor. that being the case, I should be getting some sort of compensation out of the deal, and have been given the option to do this favor. I have emailed JFK to complain about the situation, hopefully he will layeth the smack down on the Weze. Helped some other random problems with people and Wireless and other raqndom virus issues and Copyright issues, most notably was the girl who pays for her KaZaA service and shouldn’t have been shut off. So I told her my hands were tied unless i got a copyright infringement for from her. Eventually she brought one over, so we got that taken care of. I got to help Cassie with her computer problems, or just chat for a while after she got out of work Friday. By the time I got out of work, I came home and messed around online and whatnot, I really do not remember, Abby came over and we went and picked up Jenn and Deanna to go to the bar. That was an enjoyable time, Just some laid back chillin out with them and Darrin joined us, and that was awesome, I didn’t realize that those Bamm’s were so close, it was awesome to be able to hear them tell some stories and sing several songs. That was the best thing I think I have ever seen over there at the Mulligans. Rusty had too much to drink before coming to the bar, so he passed out drunk and met us there after he awoke from his drunken stupor. I passed on the yesterdog and drove Abby back to my place, and awaited a late night visit.

Saturday was a nice day of chilling out, Nice time to just lay around and chill out, got to have breakfast at IHOP with Vanberge and the Bunnyhof, a short trip to Best Buy and then home. I was really tempted to pick up Madden 2004. I did get to catch the end of the construction of the Alumatub on American HotRod as well as see the start of the SnapOn bike on American Chopper. Some time spend chillin out and driving around with Cassie and finally dinner and another trip out to the bar, with Cassie, Abby and Alex. That was a good time, a little slow to start off with, then it got way too loud, Darrin met us there. Actually technically, I guess we met him there as we were waiting on Alex. But everybody seemed to have a good time, there was drinking pool playing and some avoiding the dripping pipe. Darrin left a little before the rest of us, we came back to my place watched some of the Chapelle show on DVD, Alex drove home and did not get arrested on the way, Abby and Cassie crashed over here, I was the only sober one of the evening. I am glad that everybody had fun though. Today was some lazin around, a little sleeping in till about 11 or so, breakfast with Cassie, nap for the afternoon and some TV and chatting. A chat with Pam, I guess I hadn’t talked to her for about a month now, so that was a good time catching up. Dinner and Ice cream alone, and more chatting. I have been working on this blog entry for quite some time now, too many distractions. My thoughts this evening still go out to Russ’s family, I hope everything works out, damn horses anyhow.

I hate LUG-nuts

[ ]   —   11:00 pm

Yesterday was cool, not too terribly much to do at work, but there were at least calls to answer and people to help when they came in. I am working on organizing the back-blog and some other ideas have been flying around.Lunch was horrid as usual, mocking the GVLUG, they are the nerdiest people ever. the fact that we were 2 tables over and making fun of them was great. It really wouldve been interesting to see them enchant a burrito and have it attack us, make summon the black dragon to our table. The best defense we would have would be to “STAB” it, maybe give it a good “WHACK.” Anyhow, I spend a while stumbling around trying to figure out how to get my hands on some tickets for Abby for commencement. I guess I know a few people that shall be graduating, I may have to attend the ceremony, it could be fun. Maybe I will shoot myself in the head, no it may be interesting, play with the zoom on the camera … see how that works out. Spent some time chillin out up at the “Technology Fair” chatting with Cassie and Kevin. That was a good time, when all was said and done, and I figured out how to get the tickets, and chatted, took a short walk over to Kirkhof, it was around 5 when I got home. Play around with the computer for a bit, Abby came over and we headed out to Outback for Surprise Birthday dinner with Alex and a whole load of people. That was enjoyable, good food, good company and amusing conversation. Then a trip out to Allendale to chill with Cassie, an enjoyable end to the day.

Today was another day of not sleeping in, and continuing that pattern of late nights and relatively early mornings, but at least I did not have anything too particular to get done this fine day. I caught a short nap from like 10-12 then a trip out to “the big city,” to try to find some fans for my case. I checked a few computer stores, and they are all shitty little holes in the wall. I would’ve figured GPC to have fans and other computer building supplies, but apparently all they had were ThermalTake Crystal Orbs for chipsets, and LED 80mm fans for the case, not what a typical user would want to replace parts, and not good parts for modding and customizing either. My best option was unfortunately to pick up the parts at CompUSA for entirely too much money, but now my case is staying nice and cool, it is even exhausting cool air, and is right around how loud it was before the VGA fan went, and 2 of the case fans were dead. Maybe I should add a fan controller, switch the fans to be rheostat controlled when not over powering the machine to cut down on the volume, I was half tempted to buy a real quiet CPU fan today, but was waaaayy too overpriced. Otherwise, some dinner was tasty tonight, I have run out of soda though, I guess that means its time to switch over to alcohol. I guess we will be going to the bar at some point here tonight, I don’t know exactly when though. Peace out for now.

Another Late night

[ ]   —   3:59 am

Since I am not even starting this until 3:30, I need say no more. After a long evening of playing more with the legend and toying around with some ideas, I have some direction of how to change things up. Finally Jon and I got his FTP server functioning as properly as we can see at this point. I have determined that I need to replace some fans and potentially reengineer my case to have a better airflow, you know, eliminate the intake off the bottom and add it to the front of the case. but need to basically replace everything but the CPU fan. The canned air from meijer didn’t work, though I am very pleased to see that the work that I did at Knapp’s corner Meijer is no longer there. I am really tempted to see if that stuff is still in over at the Meijer in Holland, I would bet not, if they took it out of GR, but who knows, as long as I was paid to do the installation of the hardware in those locations. It was still worth the sleepless few days last spring break driving from Texas to michigan by way of New Orleans, Carbondale, and Chicago in less than a 24 hour period. But it truly is kind of sad that it didnt last in the locations that I worked, then again, maybe the internet based company went belly-up or something. I will hae to do some more investigation on that in the morning. Darrin brought me some unofficial good news tonight, that his coworkers said bill expressed that I would fit well into his team, and all I would basically have to do is accept the position. Which at this point I would be more than willing to do, to be able to pay those bills. I think that was a yawn, hopefully I can fall asleep without the drone of a computer fan this evenning, only time will tell. Happy Birthday Alex, maybe we can get you drunk enough to wear another dress this weekend.

Maybe this time

[ ]   —   11:59 pm

A late night, followed by an early morning. All in all it all seemed to work out, though I didn’t fall asleep till around 3:30 again last night, I was up at 7:30 this morning, and out the door to find USF by about 8:15. Since I could not find the location of the call center anywhere online, I was forced to call and verify the location. I found today that I really don’t mind getting all dressed up anymore, at least into nice clothes that actually fit me, not like those awkward years growing up when the collars on shirts were either too loose or too tight, sleeve length just wasn’t right. No today I felt confident when I left the apartment for the interview. The interview went well in my mind, hopefully Bamm will have some news for me later when we go out. I felt good that the interview went on to more than just questions about computer stuff, they went further into the Scouting experience about the leadership and problem solving skills. The multitasking and prioritizing needed in helpdesk type environment, as with anything else in life. So I felt good about the interview, and not a lie to myself like it was back with CyberNet. Bill was such a nice friendly gentleman, would be a pleasure to work with/for. And it would be such a pleasure to work in the DataCenter over there, it looks so immaculate compared to that over at GV, I know that Ben and boB would be very happy to see that clean atmoshpere.

The beautiful weather this afternoon, made me desire to go out and play outside. I ended up going for a little bike ride, but that didn’t last as long as I would’ve liked it to due to the wind. Quite a strong headwind to take the full steam out of my biking. So I watched some Breaveheart on USA, and chatted with Bamm, tore my desktop apart to see which fan was making the racket, now my apartment is eerily quiet due to the fact that my desktop is still off, I hope to get some canned air later, see if blowing things out makes it a bit quieter. I have been getting some ideas of things to change on the website, as you may notice there has appeared a Legend link, which I am sure will be changing soon, probably when I have time to kill at GV. So like tomorrow I will be working on that I would guess. Otherwise I had some chats this afternoon and some dinner, but mostly just chilling out to TV. Spent a while looking at new Computers and ideas of how to cool my machine quieter, and to be perfectly honest maybe I need to upgrade to a P4 so i dont need as high a powered fan on the machine.

[ ]   —   11:58 pm

A short post, rather uneventful day as far as work goes, too care of a few people, handled limited issues with blocking and unblocking. I did have the time to get a legend of people in my blog started today while at work, I have included all of the guys I work with, I need to add in the other people that influence my life. Lunch was horrid as usual at Upper. The afternoon came and went at work, then a stop at my office and the language lab to pay a little visit to the front desk, then to come home and pass out till 7ish. the sleep seemed to help, but is probably part of the reason I am still up, some TV and chatting were the main activities of the night, and for a change not just sitting around watching TV alone again. I grow hungry again, so I shall go to bed, and wake up for my interview which is 6 hours from now. Eventually I will solve my brother’s problems, and we will get that addressed as well. Wish me luck.

An actual fun weekend

[ ]   —   11:56 pm

Yes, definitely a change from the average weekend. Got to assist Abby with her father’s computer problems, first time I have ever used the remote assistance feature in XP help and support, I also got that great ego boost to see it say (expert) after my name. Good afternoon to catch up with KT some more, and catch up watching those favorite shows on the Discovery channel. Nice to see the little former roommate turn legal I hope he enjoys the bottle of wine. I was impressed by his seating arrangement in the rec room, with the elevated platform for the couch in back, makes a nice arrangement for sure. They’ve definitely got the setup with that and the hot tub outback, I do hope that he intends to put some sort of speakers on the deck they are building around the tub. Got to see some people I haven’t seen in a while, so that was fun, but eventually I did get that sanity saving call.

So the plan to go pick up Cassie and head out downtown to find something to do, that changed a bit to go find something to do elsewhere, and I hate to say it but the evening without alcohol was nice for sure. My stomach did not get all twisted up, nor was I hungover later today. A trip to go bowling, way out on Alpine was amusing, the night tour of CHS starting around 11:00p, which is slightly scary becuase we wandered around for about a half hour I would think, just chatting and looking at the random things, specifically the strange artwork, we did not see nor actually hear security in the building. I suppose that if I had come in the front door rather than off the garage it would have been more of a concern. Maybe the guard was walking th building or watching security monitors from a remote location rather than the front information desk there where they can see the doors. That is the second late night trip that I have not seen security around. Some further driving back to my place for entertainment in the theater, Family guy and Super Mario 3 is always a good time. Then of course to call it a night, a late one, but enjoyable and different. Today some movie watching and “breakfast” at Denny’s around 12:00 or so. After breakfast the trip back to Allendale, and back home.

Though I think my parents are getting old, I called them yesterday and left a message, there was not much memory of the message I left them when I called back today. They have apparently not put the house up for sale, nor wil they till mid next month, I guess that was the recomendation of one realtor, I have no idea what their meeting today had yeilded. But there should not be much trouble for them to sell the place, which is awesome. Give them the time to get everything out to get moved into their place in July. I guess if I am around somewhere I will have to give them assistance with this matter. Otherwise, I got to talk to Tod for a while about his business stuff, which was interesting, some more chatting online and watching the History channel. A short little half hour nap, some more chatting blogging, troubleshooting and going to bed.

I was expecting a weekend on par with the rest of weekends recently, with just a little twist of things up front. It ended up being more than that, and thankfully so. The twist of a movie before drinking to turn to drinks and conversation, to more conversation, to more drinks and limited conversation. I guess when I was just expecting to chill out at home on a Saturday night again, it was nice to have someone to just go out and goof around with, not revolving on demolishing my liver. I know it is definately thanking me now, it didn’t want the 5 days in a row. It is so refreshing to basically be able to get to know someone without all the typical bull that is involved with people these days. Though it may offend some and probably will offend me at some point, its awesome to not have to worry about tiptoing around and avoiding issues. But all in all it seems that life is looking up. I really think that Tuesday will go well and with that it seems that my eye twitching though not gone, has at least eased up, and well yeah. And for sure I will enjoy ahving someone else to talk to and go out and play with, and even better on the nice income I have, stay in and play with.
