More interesting times

[ ]   —   1:44 am

Happy Birthday to Jenn and Jason, may this year bring you more exitement and that elusive happiness. I know it comes easier to some than others, and I wish I could find it as easily as Jason does. It has been some time personally since I have been truly happy, sometimes I get close, but that is too easily dashed away. I believe I need to find that happiness outside these four walls, outside this box. I need something different, but not too uncomfortably unfamiliar. Some time that will happen. I guess it doesn’t help that I am getting ill.

I appreciate all the people that I got to see and hang out with this week, especially those of you I don’t often see (Katie and Andi). It was a good time going out with everybody and we should try to do so more often. But before I start to sound too whiny ….

There have been some interesting things going on lately, but I think the most interesting thing of this past weekend has been getting involved in an accident scene. This time I was not the one that caused the accident, but rather one of the first people on the scene. As such, I followed that first aid training and checked with the other people there. None of them was really knew what actually happened, there was an old couple that saw the white truck hit the woman on the bike and keep going. I thought seeing that truck speeding by with its bumper wrapped halfway underneath the front end. I checked the woman, I was not able to find a pulse, I doubt that she will make it. A hit by a truck, followed by a head first dive into the ditch next to the road left her kinda twisted up. The police were soon on the scene, and they wer followed shortly by the paramedics. I turned it over to the police to do their official work as they are probably a bit more familiar. They then turned the life saving operation over to the paramedics when they came. I gave the police the information I had and a brief description of the vehicle for him. It was one of the strangest things I have been involved in lately.

‘We’re the Chicago Boys’

‘We’re the Chicago Boys’

I know, I should make a more substantive post, but not at this hour. Isn’t it bad enough that I’m up more or less ‘working’.

Cheers

Well first, congratulations to Tod. You are now a legitimate businessman, you have income to compliment those business expenses. We will have to get you up and going later this afternoon with that website.

Otherwise there has not been too much excitement over here recently. Though I guess it has been a while since I had been motivated to update. The most exciting will be happening at 10:00 this morning, when the new guy comes in to start his training. He will be my replacement, thus ending this sentence of weekend working. Otherwise work has been as expeted …. work. I don’t necessarily enjoy answering the phones, but this is just the foot in the door to move up and get a more desirable position. It will be something good for a resume and well the full time labor is a nice change for the pocketbook. It does seem that things are the same everywhere, with the little quabbles and whatnot, but to be honest I don’t understand where some of the stuff at the Job comes from.

I am enjoying my new phone, I need to clean up my apartment a bot and do some laundry, I don’t really have any more dress shirts to wear. So those should get done before Monday hopefully, but that would infringe on Football Sunday.

Last weekend was an interesting time, it was nice to not have to work on Sunday, even if i was scheduled I was way too drunk to have made it in to work. Those Bloody Mary’s Hit hard sometimes. But it was a good time celebrating a birthday with Deanna, see the gallery for the Pics, followed by GV game on Saturday, again see the gallery. It was all fun, and I’m glad I still have people to go out and play with. I did pick up a new memory card for my camera, 512Mb xD-media was at a good price at CompUSA. I think Miss Rooks is getting a little old on me or something, she’s always going to bed so early. At least I get to see her on the weekends from time to time, maybe even go to Mongo sometime soon.

Last night I worked with Tod and Becky helping do a demonstration for the Bear Den. Apparently we made “Hobo pies” otherwise known as Pudgies, and then got fancy and made cookies in a reflector oven. Followed those with cherry turnovers in the dutch oven and in the reflector oven. Top it all off with “the braid” which was a mix of vegetables as a filline in some sort of biscuit crust. All made rather interestingly in an inverted oblong dutch oven, on top of the hibachi, there will be photos up a bit later.

Go Technology

[ ]   —   7:56 am

Isn’t it great to know that people don’t just make stupid mistakes with home improvements and other projects. The Boys at NASA seem so have a trackrecord for multi-million dollar blunders. I am glad that I was not one of the Engineers assembling this for Lockheed Martin.

Genesis probe update

Or how about that conversation with Al, Jon and Steve on Labor Day weekend. The thought of broadband over powerlines. Impossible! says Jon, while Steve was going on about the technology. It seems that Steve may have something in what he was saying after all.

Ho Hum

So I would really like to get back to some more frequent updates to this page, but I just lack the motivation to sit down and actually do that. I fell the need to update though. First off, thanks to all those that voted for the labels in the last post, but feel free to keep passing it around for voting if people see those photos fit to race a bottle of Jones soda. Otherwise I had added some photos to a few galleries online. There are 2 added sub-galleries of the past 2 Tuesday night sunsets in Holland, as well as HiJinx at Mulligans, unfortunately not capturing the spirit of Abby for the evening. There are no photographs of anyone “smelling her”. She smelled good. It was a good time followed by a semi busy day of work with about 10 calls in the 8 hours, well busy compared to the weekends of late. The remainder of the day was spent being rather lazy, watching college ball, and napping. Sunday was spent watching and listening to NFL football. I was tempted to go to Holland for the sunsets Friday Saturday and Sunday, but I was never that motivated to head out there alone. Saturday also brought some good times chilling out at Chicago’s Pizza and Dogs for some deep dish pizza and some Cold Stone ice cream to top off the night of feeding. It was definately and enjoyably fat time. And who better to enjoy it than with some people that love to eat as well, Abby and Flo.

I recieved my new phone last week and spent some time getting the thing configured and up and running. The Nextel folks were a pain in the ass switching the service over to the new phone/SIM, but I did not have another phone to talk to them on while they swapped the service. I think that may have been part of the problem, but I was unable to use the Direct Connect feature properly if the phone had been on for a few hours. After talking with them, they agreed that my phone was defective and had ordered a replacement sent out to me. That seems to have taken care of the problem, and in the process I have finally gotten the proper credits applied to my account, as well as a few others. Lovisa was nice enough to transfer my phonebook over today so that was cool. I will next need to see how my old phone would handle having my car drive over it. I will need someone to video the even though.

Phone and ticket stats for last month have been posted at work, and I feel i did pretty well compared with some of the of the real full time employees at the TSC. but enough about nothing. I shall head to sleep and enjoy some more moments of peacefull bliss before dealing with the rigors of the call center again. Peace out for now.

Cat Fight

[ ]   —   9:34 pm

I got in a disagreement with a cat the other night. He wanted to come home with me, came up and started rubbing up against my leg as i was getting my mail. I turned and went down the stairs to the apartment, he followed me. I unlocked the door and started to open the dor, the cat tried to sneak past me into the apartment. Though this is the clostest I have been to having some “tail” stop by the apartment, I did not have the energy to chase a cat, nor did I wnat cat piss all over the place. So i picked up the cat and placed him in the garbage can propping the laundry room door open. the cat promptly jumped out and came back over by me. I had to take the cat and gently urge him on his way back toward the parking lot as I did not want to deal with a cat. The cat landed short of the cars in the lot, and I have only seen him once since. I did recieve a slight battle scar on my finger from the animal, but all it good. I think I won in the long shot.
