February Bliss

[ ]   —   1:33 am

Apparently this month is nearing its end and I have again become lax in updating. I suppose the lack of my laptop has caused me to spend a bit less time in front of the computer than I have done in recent times. This is most probably a good thing, because really what is the need to sit in front of a computer all the damn time and accomplishing little to nothing with my life. Not that I am accomplishing a whole lot more otherwise, but I feel better, I have time to work on the Wright Flyer. I have had some time to go out and spend the time with friends and get some work done. I wish I had some more equipment in here to get some things done like I would want to, such as the model building.

My working has come to a halt, the HP MMR has been completed and I am now done with this stint through ARC it seems. After my day on Monday, I can’t say that I am entirely disappointed either. I was sent to Saginaw to do the SBC office out there, they have apparently been done for a few months. Little good does thi sdo me after driving 3 hours to get to the site in some pretty bad weather. Well essentailly I do no work and get to clock my minimum 3 hours of labor plus getting paid the drive time. They then decide since I am out that way that I should be able to do the Sandusky, MI site. So I drive the 1:30 over there to replace the memopry in 1 computer. So essentially I have completed 10 minutes worth of labor and will get to clock in for a hour for this job. That leaves me at 4 hours of billable labor and 9 hours of billable travel time, and the expensing of 511.7 miles. I got to see Jen so the whole trip was worthwhile.

I was able to finish out the SBC GR site and thus end the contracting stint, but I was also able to land an interview with a company out of Holland. So I had my interview, then a second interview on Friday and hopefully I will be hearing something back early this coming week that I will be starting there soon. That would be great, as much as I really don’t want to work again, it will be the necessary evil to pay the bills that I unfortunately incurr and hopefully lead somewhere.

The celebrationg of Tyler’s birthday on Thursday at Raggs and the anchor was a fun experience as it always is hanging out with those fellas. It was a toss up for the night, was it more fun going to dinner with Abby, Jen, Bonnie and Darrin or out for the birthday. I might have to say dinner, becaus the food is excellent, and well how could I not enjoy going out with all the ladies. Happy Birthday to Jen. While we are on the note of Birthdays, Happy Birthday to Becky, who will have her birthday upcoming. The party this weekend was definately a good time as should be expected. It was nice to be invited to join in a family gathering as I cannot really ever seem to make it in for the ones in Chicago for my family. The various drink mixes went over very well, almost surprisingly how well the Hand Grenades went. Granted I possibly had the most of those at 7, but I was unfortunately too sober. A good time was had by all, so that was good. I am going to sleep a nice night and hopefully miss the morning tomorrow.

Work

[ ]   —   11:26 pm

Been working. It has been a nice change of pace from sitting on my ass and not doing anything, though I do miss being able to sleeping late. I will say that I am not the fondest on actually walking all over creating to work on PCs in the rain and snow. I would prefer to be in one place long enough to get to know some of the coworkers. I will say that working with some of these contractors on my team was a different experience. 3 GV IS grads who cannot land regular jobs, and somehow my Biomed degree got me put in charge of the team. Though I can see how one of them can’t get a job …. he is a typical computer nerd, actually pulled out a CD folder full of Linux distributions today. If that doesn’t scream nerd, I don’t know what does.

That pretty much wraps up things for this past week. Dell has been pretty good, todya is actually the first day all week that they haven’t called me. They are sending me a box to send my laptop in for service. I should still have hardware call it in, after all they always address me as Jeremy Flynn anyways.

We have gotten some hits on business to Two-Eagles and Practical Innovations so that is a good point for the week. I have been busy enough to realize that I am alone, but Thanks Al for pointing that out to me. In any case, I guess it is time to jump back into the hell that is osCommerce.

Woot?

[ ]   —   3:09 am

Apparently ther goes anotehr week in the life of me with not much of an update to this destination. I guess there have been some interesting delvelopments, most notably being that I have obtained a contract position. This really isn’t the dream job that I have been looking for, but it is a source of income and a little better way of living. Well that is the hope anyways, where it may pan out, who really knows.

This past week has provided me with some good times, Superbowl followed by 80s night at Billy’s. That was great fun, I do feel a bit bad for not tipping the waitress, I spent the $4 in my pocket on cover and 2 bottles of Old Style. Tuesday proved interesting for sure, after a stop by Tod’s place, I attended a gathering at Founder’s with D, Jason, Alex and Nicolette. That was a interesting game of billiards and some good ole’ bluegrass music. The sleep schedule has been screwed up though, no sleep Tuesday night, only 3 hours on wednesday night brought me in on a great mood to go see Christine and Jen at State. All in all that was a good time and I hope that we can do that again at some time in the near future. While I was in East Lansing, I paid KT a visit, which was also a good time which does not come often enough.

The computer work for SBC replacing memory modules in 21 laptops took a good majority of the day, 6.5 hours anyways. I still will need to go back and finish this site. I learned yesterday on a conferenference call that I will be working as the lead technician on a prokect for Johnson Controls, apparently in charge of 5 techs, isnt that impressive for the second day on the job? Well this should keep me busy through this following week, up until I get sent to Saginaw on a project to do the same memory replacement. In anycase, I hope something better pans out ……

24 Spoiler *** Beware 2/7/05 Episode

[ ]   —   10:00 pm

Tony Almeida apparently likes his Budweiser from a bottle, and amusingly enough enjoys drinking it from a Cubs coffee cup. That is awesome, too bad he turned into a dickhead and his attractive wife left him. I guess what do you really expect from a Cubs fan anyhow? Typically, I usually only drink mixed drinks from a coffee cup. Wait there is some redemption in the man, he still wants to be a field agent, never really got the chance before. Maybe he can avoid being shot in the neck this time. I don’t know if anyone else is getting tired of the mole in CTU plotline either, but it is getting quite tedious, and the whole playing the black woman to be the evil one is also a bit tired.

Super Sunday

[ ]   —   4:30 pm

Apparently today is Superbowl Sunday, and soon the game will be upon us and the festivities will commence. I know that is a lot of talk for a football game on the tele, but it is what the whole season comes down to, and with the ending of this season casting a shadow over the sporting world until training camps start back up. At least there is the AFL to keep football in your lives. At least the football players dont get all greedy like some other sports players, like hockey and baseball. Though I don’t know if hockey would really be considered a sport, played by all those girly men with long hair and Canadian names.

Well my struggle with Dell continues. Apparently they cancelled the replacement order from Tuesday and shipped out a new one on Friday morning. This wouldn’t be so upsetting if they had let me know, so I wouldn’t have been waiting on Thursday and Friday for the package. Well the package was shipped next day air, so I should have it on Monday. If not there are going to be some heads rolling. Namely Rajesh and Shirley. The former for screwing up the replacement order, and the latter was who I originally talked to about the problem, who found it necessary to not track the call status before calling me at 9am on Saturday to see how the new card was working out for me. If she had done her job right in the first place then none of this would have come into play. Who knows if it is the wireless card or the antenna either, I really have a feeling that it was the antenna, but I can’t say that in Indian.

I grow weary of reciving calls from some idiot in the Los Angeles area calling and asking for Mario, sounded kid of “Ethnic” too. If anyone knows a phone spam dialer or a way to issue retribution for the numberous calls he is inflicting on me. I think there were 5 yesterday and 1 today, about 4 the other week. You would think that maybe he would try to dial the number correctly rather than just redialing the same thing. So if anyone out there would like to talk to this person feel free. The number is 818-381-2670.

Photos are posted from this past weeeknd as well. Check out The Gallery. But for a more interesting comparison, check these two pics, Photo 1 or Photo 2.

Oh what a day!

[ ]   —   12:19 am

Apparently my phone decided to not ring again at 9am this morning nor alert me to the voicemail messages until 4pm. That was a bit upsetting, if not traoubling that this is the second time I have had this problem in the last week. In fact, it was the 25th that Ifirst had this problem which I was alerted to by Darrin. Maybe my phone just does not work correctly on Tuesdays.

I again missed a call from Dell about the network card, I guess they are shipping me another one. That is awesome, they believe that the card wasn’t in the package and didn’t try to say that they were right for sure. So I will be eagerly awaiting that shipment, and I will send this other one back when the airborne guy comes back.

I am brought to the current evening’s conversations on the interweb. Apparently one of my former girlfriends, the one who slept around and ran, has decided that I have not moved on in my life and I am still obsessed with her. I guess two years later I should be hung up on a heartless girl who is too full of herself to see the truth in the world outside. I am glad she found a “guy” that will keep with her, that will free the rest of the male population from being subject to her slanted view of reality. In retrospect I do believe that she was just attempting to see if she could manipulate me into fixing her computer for free, maybe I snapped her into the real world

In any case, hopefully I can follow up on the other phone calls I missed on the morrow as well as getting some more business accomplished. Possibly even get the CD I was mixing for Beth completed. For now, good day. A good ground hogs day that is.
