March Madness

[ ]   —   12:56 am

Apparently I have been watching the March Madness contests on the television, which although I have not been all that into basketball in a while, it has been interesting. It is a great joy to see the Big Ten doing well in the tournament, and of course great to see the Illini doing so well, and on that basketball note, maybe we will even see some good play from the Bulls. We all know this has been lacking in recent years, and I might be able to tolerate sitting through a NBA basketball game if I can root for my team. I definately don’t have the same fan commitment to the Bulls that I have for Da Bears. Is this a good thing, who knows, and really does it matter in the bigger picture.

So Easter provided me with the opportunity to visit with the family, have some good brews with them and just generally kick back and have a good time. I cannot remember the last time that I had laughed so hard. Dad is something else, thats about all I can say about that one. Otherwise, I guess I did my job right, I gave a good impression when I attended work with my brother on Friday, and everything for the Easter Vigil mass for us anyhow. I next have the fun job of processing the Video into one full length DVD, all 2:47 or so of the mass.

My platter of work is slowly filling up, some with things I can easily do, some of which might take a whole lot more time/motivation/research to accomplish. Two of the more advanced projects that I may tackle are databases, which I really don’t know a whole lot about. I am not a programmer, I am support and one of these days people will realize it. I guess I will just keep on pluging along and knocking some things off the list and hopefully be able to collect on a few bills that I need to send out. On the plus side, there has been a step forward on the business front, I have actually talked to someone who wants to buy some engraved product, the order has been placed, now we need to process and deliver.

Uneventful

[ ]   —   12:47 am

So did anyone else hear about this stupid girl down in Memphis. Apparently she shot herself in the arm on accident by searching for something in her purse in class. What posesses a person to bring a gun to high school. Well I guess down there in Tennesee things are different and its a different mindset. The authorities weren’t even sure what criminal charges she would face, thats some quality law enforcement.

Somewhere out west, Utah or something like that, I hear they were attempting to create an artificial avalanche. This process involves firing a Howitzer at the mountain to artificially create the effect. Well I give my congratulations to the fine team who apparently missed the mountain and send the shell two miles past its intended target to land in a civilians back yard where it exploded, left a 6′ crater, and sent shrapnel through his house. The person on the radio said that they might have had too much gunpowder in the shell which sent it past the target. Maybe I can get a job with these folks, I can screw things up like this.

St. Patty’s Day continued.

[ ]   —   3:03 pm

So the day continued with a little more celebration around 7:00p. This portion of the evening commenced at Logan’s Alley down on Michigan, A few celebratory drinks, some amusing photos and just general good times. It was an amusing time, enjoyable for sure, with Deanna, Rusty, Dutch, and Nicolette. I ran into a former coworker, who is also working on the independant market selling some construction materials. That was only slightly akward drinking with an old man who I don’t really know.

We next crawled down to Rocky’s for some more brews. The Red Tulip ale from New Holland was quite tasty. It was some more good times, Darrin and Phil decided to grace us with their presence, which was a great addition to the crowd, unfortunately most everybody left Rocky’s relatively early. Philabuster and I were not quite done for the evening, so we walked on over to Founders for a few more brews. The live Bluegrass music by Camp Greensky was great and the people down there are so nice and friendly. It seems that the bluegrass nights brings out the dancer in me, which is amusing if nothing else. Hopefully I will get some photos from Phil to add to the gallery from last night. It was the most fun I’ve had out on a St. Patty’s day in a while.

Happy St. Patty’s Day

[ ]   —   4:56 pm

Well there hasn’t been too much of note lately in my life. I have been in contact with a few people I haven’t talked to in a while, so that has been cool. Otherwise, life keeps chugging along and I’m sure it will lead somewhere.

This is one of the best holidays of the year, and it will only get better as the day goes on. Last night/this morning at Mulligans was a great way to bring in the day, with a pint of green beer, unfortunately the green beer was Bud Light, so that kinda sucked, but the color did nothing to improve the flavor so what can you do. This morning, bright and early at 6:30am, Deanna and I went down to the Black Rose for a great start to the day. A pint of Guiness and some good cooked breakfast were wonderful. The flavors of Guiness, eggs, bacon, Irish Sausage and hashed browns combined very well for an excellent satisfying breakfast. The rest of the day will entail a bit of a pub crawl down Michigan to have a drink or two, so it will be glorious. Happy holiday to all’y'all.

The Best thing I have heard in a while came from the table behind us at breakfast this morning. “Us Polish just tend to celebrate everything” That was awesome.

Apparently it is March

[ ]   —   9:43 pm

Well so went Feb. This new month has brought some interesting things to light. To start things off, I have been getting exhausted due to physical labor, which I am sure had brought enough strain on my puny little body and resistances to physical ailments.

I will just have to say that it was a good week. I had fun which is the first time in a while that its gone like that and I’ve actually been amused all week. I got to help Tod out as always working with stuff for Practical Innovations and Two-Eagles. Product lines grow on one side, and we hope for increased sales along both businesses. Computers Anonymous has been reselling items that people are requesting. I suppose If ebaying for people is a way to make some money, I can’t complain.

There was a farewell to Grasshoppah over at Founder’s Brewing Company. Unfortunately the Bamm clan did take off early and I wasn’t quite ready to go so I stuck around. I suppose I look pathetic enough, Mo brought me a free beer and I was ever persuaded to get up and do a little dancing, which as many of you would know isn’t me. But it was a good time, met a nice girl from Crete, Illinois which is just a bit crazy since Tim just moved out there a little while back. Thursday brought some good times out with the guys at B-dubs on Alpine. There was an uncharacteristic appearance of Rusty out there as well as some good conversation with Philabuster and dotorg. Darrin apparently had too much to drink and decided he would rather wear some of his beer home. Sadly that was on his first beverage out there.

With a lack of activity on Friday night, I was able to hang out with Tod on Saturday and work with him on some design and modification on some PineWood cars. All in all I would have liked to have had more time to get the design right and thus have enough time to get the cars painted properly for the race. Though I guess there isn’t the same interest in the project that my brother and I took as young lads working with our father on the projects. The layers upon layers of paints using Testor’s Model master paints, which was damn near as expensive as doing drugs, $3.50 per half ounce these days. Post working on the cars and dinner, I headed to see cornmeal perform over at Founders. I will say that they did put on quite a show, one of the few times I have ever heard Shady Grove played live. Unfortunately or maybe not, Darrin was not able to attend with me, so I watched the show and what is wrong with me, I talked to various people and ended up closing the place down talking to an attractive lady. Unfortunately I had tied on a few too many, and it made for a rough end to the weekend. Though I did get the name recognition over at Founder’s when I arrived on Sunday and there was a pint waiting for me by the time I got up to the bar, I didn’t realize that he was paying that close attention Tues or Sat. 80s night was nothing major to speak of, just some time in line.

It was a good time and I hope that things continue. for now I must be off to attempt the healing process on my body. sigh ……
